Oral cancer screenings
Certain lifestyle choices can have a great impact on your overall health including the health of tissues in the mouth. If you are a smoker or use smokeless tobacco or recreational drugs, you are at greater risk for oral cancer than non- users. Oral cancer screenings are a very important part of the dental visit for the teenage patient. With the advances in modern technology, we are now able to pinpoint potential problems at much earlier stages. The ability to do so is extremely important in being able to reverse or treat any adverse effects on the oral mucosa.
Deep Cleanings
Teenage patients with poor oral hygiene due to a lack of or infrequent tooth brushing at home may accumulate plaque and tartar below the gum line. In this scenario, we will clean and smooth the areas with special instruments to ensure that the area free of bacteria. It’s very important to have your dentist check below the gums if you experience bleeding from your gums during brushing.
